When I first found out we were expecting this summer I didn't know what exactly my future held - I planned on taking some time off, to enjoy life, newborn snuggles, adjust to reality --- then Miss Anna came along and has decided that sleeping through the night is a really awesome thing to do from the get-go ---- which leaves me really quite rested and well, missing photography!
Then I got an email from the mother of the handsome little dude below that informed me he was turning one (already??? Didn't we just do his newborn and 6th month portraits? Man time flies!) The weather was amazing - I was feeling great and itching to do some shooting - so away we went, and boy am I glad I did - who can resist this!
Everyone meet the beautiful Jamie!
Once upon a time - in a whole other life of mine, when I attended the U of S for my music degree I met Allison and Sean - (Sean was a pseudo music student, Allison was the real deal) - I've always appreciated their sense of humour and in general they're just wonderful people to be around!
Fast forward into this life, Allison and Sean now have a beautiful, funny daughter whom I got to meet on our little photo adventure at the beginning of November.
I was very honoured to be asked to take their yearly family photo, we dealt with a few weather and sickness cancellations but it was very worth it in the end (always is!) the weather was just great and the light was perfect for fall!
Thank you for the wonderful afternoon!
Sometimes my skills are put to the test! And this was one of those times!
We had some AMAZING weather the last week-end in November, which is so unusual but played perfectly for the final few outdoor sessions - so the weather was on my side! But the light at that time of year fades quickly so even with our 3:30 start time I knew we would have to move quickly to get in every moment of sunlight - add that to 2 year old twins and a park that closes at 4:00 (which I didn't know about until I got there! Yay winter hours!) - it was either going to go amazing or be one of those "oh boy!!" moments!
I could not have asked for a more amazing family! Both kids listened so well, were just happy to do anything and hugged without a single complaint. ;) We finished our session with time to spare even! The light was GORGEOUS and worth any single moment of worry I had - it turned out to be one of my most favourite of the year - definitely worth being snowed out a few weeks earlier!

It's a little surreal posting this photo today looking at all the snow out my window....but just goes to show how quickly it all can turn!
This was a cute little session - the little guy had just mastered walking and was enthralled by everything - especially the peacocks wondering around! He was always on the move and just loving life!
Have a great Thanksgiving Week-end everyone - travel safe!
